1981 The wood processing company Alfa Wood SA is founded in Larisa by Antonis Adamopoulos and Christos Agorastos. Initially, the principal goal of the company is the production and distribution of furniture to the local market, by the name A. Adamopoulos – C. Agorastos Ltd.
1984 The remarkable progress of the company leads to the expansion of the production to veneer coated MDF and chipboard. The facilities are located in the 10th km of Larisa-Kozani and cover an area of 14.874m2.
1991 The company changed from a partnership to an incorporate company by the name “Thessalia Woodtechnics SA”. At the same time, the company is divided in two functional departments: • Alfa Wood (industrial wood processing) • Alfa Centre (furniture) Later on, Alfa Centre is being renamed as Alfa Wood Furniture. Today, Alfa Wood Furniture runs as a furniture showroom, situated in Tirnavos and covering an area of 10.000m2. Its main aim is the selling and distribution of Greek and imported furniture not only to the local market but all over Greece.
1997 The constantly growing demand for the Alfa Wood products resulted to the relocation of the production force to ultramodern facilities of 26.600m2 in an area of 42.500m2 at the industrial area of Larisa.
1999 In October 0f 1999, the company acquires its current name, “Alfa Wood SA”.
A quick look at the group’s course throughout time, from its establishment and new challenges, until today’s successful activities and even higher aspirations.
2000 Since August of 2000, Alfa Wood takes action in the industry of chipboard and venner production, purchasing TICHA AD (listed on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange) located in Varna, which thereafter is renamed to Alfa Wood Bulgaria. The industrial buildings cover 46.600m2 in an overall surface of 265.000m2. Alfa Wood SA invests $7.5million to the renovation of the facilities, automating the production lines with cutting-edge technology.
2001 On February 27th, Alfa Wood is certified with ISO 9002. In May, during the program “Thessaly Innovation Week RIS + 2001”, Alfa Wood receives the award “Innovation in the Production Process” of the Ministry of Development.
2002 In the beginning of 2002, the new melamine production and natural wood streaming & drying lines are being initiated at the plant of Larisa Industrial Area. At the same year, the company founds a corporation for treating wood in Ioannina, by the name Epirus Woodtechnics. Aim of the new company is the increase of the market share in Epirus.
2003 In May 10th, the new section Alfa Wood Shop is inaugurated at the facilities that are located in the 10th km of Larisa-Kozani. Alfa Wood Shop offers to the end customer the ability to purchase any equipment related to a new house.
2004 In February, Alfa Wood SA takes over the company Pindos SA. The new company is renamed as Alfa Wood Pindos. Today, Alfa Wood Pindos is the sole MDF manufacturer in Greece, contributing to the growth of both local and national economies.
2007 A new ultramodern production line of laminate flooring operates at the facilities in Grevena and in this way a new range comes along: Alfa Flooring - Laminate flooring which, until that moment, was an exclusively imported product. At the same time, a new unit for veneer jointing is taking effect while the logistics system is enlarging as now covers 4.000m2. Additionally, new spacious offices of 300m2 are inaugurated.
2009 Alfa Wood Group integrates Mantel Profile Company to its multimember family. In order to meet the requirements of the market and produce special constructions as well, the group collaborates with Mantel Profile which constitutes the first company that established the coated profile in Greece. The 30-year know-how of the specialized personnel of Mantel combined with the high technological facilities and powerful status of Alfa Wood in the sector, guarantee for the superior quality, perfect service and satisfaction of the increasing needs of the customers.
2010 Alfa Wood Group buys out Shelman Company. This buy-out is the result of the continuous growth of Alfa Wood and constitutes the beginning of a new era for the wood industry, not only in Greece but in SA Europe as well. More specifically, Alfa Wood bought 25.365.386 stocks for €11.000.000. In fact, these stocks represent the 72,09% of its rights, a percentage that offers to the group the full control of Shelman. From now on, Alfa Wood Group and Shelman continue their activities united under the same umbrella, in order to meet the needs of the market. After the public offer that has been introduced to Athens Stock Market, Alfa Wood possesses the 84,83% of the overall paid stock and the deliberative voice of Shelman Company..
